Everyone knows when the warm weather starts to pick up it is soon to be mosquito season once again. Mosquito’s can be extremely irritating especially when you are trying to enjoy yourself with the company of others. There are also quite a few people that like to use mosquito repellent candles to try to ward against the insect but prove unreliable most times. Instead of turning to mosquito repellent scented candles you should try some of these diy mosquito trap suggestions!
Box fan mosquito trap
We list this trap first because it’s probably one of the most out of the ordinary designs we’ve seen for a diy mosquito trap. The diy box fan mosquito trap is pretty much just as it sounds. You’re going to need a staple gun, cardboard, string, mosquito netting, and a box fan. You will have to place your fan facing upward on the ground, cut your cardboard into strips about the size of eight to ten inches, build a frame from the strips you just made, and then placing them on all four sides of the fan.
Then you will take your mosquito trap netting and stretch it over the frame around your fan with about an inch of excess netting so that you can fold the netting over the cardboard frame and staple it together. Now you take your string and place it across the sides, top, bottom, and then tie the string in the back so that the strings keep the framed netting in place. This makes it easy to remove the netting trap so that it can be cleaned later. You have now finished assembling your very first diy box fan mosquito trap!
It is recommended that you find a heavily infested area and place this mosquito trap there for about 24 hours for results. The idea of this trap is that when you run the fan, it will suck up mosquito’s through force of wind and blow the insects into the netting trap where they can’t escape. Because the mosquito’s aren’t able to move from the constant force of wind, this will dehydrate them and eventually turn them into a fine powder of mosquito bits.

The heavy diy design
The reason as to why we label this diy mosquito trap design as “heavy” is because there is quite a bit of ingredients that go into this one. You will need a 2-liter soda bottle, 2 cups of water, 1 to 2 banana peels, a cup of vinegar, and a cup of sugar. This is the diy mosquito trap death cake recipe, the scent is suppose to be the ultimate attraction for these blood sucking vermin. However, because there is so much volume that goes into making this trap, it tends to be super heavy and you’ll need to find a high up branch you can hang this bad boy off of.
We also recommend trying to place it somewhere that is far away enough that you won’t be bothered by the smell yourself while you are outside with company. After about 24 hours of deploying this diy mosquito trap, you should have some pretty effective results when you go to check how many bug bodies you can find in the sludge. If you’re lucky you might even kill a few wasps in the process.
These two diy mosquito trap designs have proven to be pretty effective when it comes to airborne vermin. These designs can also be improved upon so feel free to get creative with the information provided here. Good luck and enjoy your time outside without anything trying to suck the blood from you!
